Zoning Hearing for Proposed 86th and Lafayette Gas Station

The rescheduled meeting of the Metropolitan Board of Zoning Appeals Division II will be on Tuesday, December 8th at 1:00pm in the Public Assembly Room on the 2nd floor of the City-County Building (200 E. Washington Street). If you’re not familiar with this area of downtown, this list of locations to park may be helpful.

The Board will hear two appeals regarding the proposed gas station at 86th Street and Lafayette Road:

  1. Improvement Location Permet (2015-AP2-001)
  2. Flood Permit (2015-AP2-002)

At the previous Board meeting, the vote was 2-1 in favor of the opposition to the gas station. Unfortunately, 3 votes are needed for any Board action to be official and only three Board members were present at that meeting.

The Board has the authority  to revoke the issued permits and stop the proposed gas station. Please come and support the appeal if you can.

86th Street and Lafayette Road Public Hearing POSTPONED (Again)!

While a hearing in front of the Board of Zoning Appeals was heard on Tuesday, November 10th, not enough board members were present to make any action binding. The board voted 2-1 in favor of the remonstrators, just shy of the 3 votes required.

The issue has been automatically continued to December 8, 2015 at 1pm.

Plan Commission Report on Cooper Road Extension Forwarded to Zionsville Town Council

At last night’s Plan Commission meeting, a study for a possible “north-south connector” to extend Cooper Road/850 E north to 575 S was unanimously approved to be forwarded to the Zionsville Town Council.

To place Zionsville’s transportation infrastructure plans in context, it is informative to at least scan over the Indianapolis Metropolitan Planning Area Long Range Transportation Plan. There are several Zionsville area projects contained in that document (note especially that Zionsville Road is slated to be upgraded to 4 lanes between 86th Street and 96th Street on page 13-6).

We will attempt to notify our readers when the study is scheduled to be considered by the Zionsville Town Council.

Cooper Road Extension

Zionsville is proposing a “North-South Connector” west of the town that would extend Cooper Road/850 E north to 575 S. The Zionsville Plan Commission will be discussing this proposed new roadway at their meeting on October 19th at 7:00pm. I do not know if public comment will be taken at this meeting, but if you have concerns or would like to add your thoughts I would encourage you to attend.

Both the meeting agenda and the study conducted by Beam, Longest and Neff are available to download before the meeting.
